New York report: a day at the Met

Pantaloni a zampa e stivaletti beige di Margiela... Appena sono uscita dall'hotel ha iniziato a piovere e i jeans hanno assorbito tutta l'acqua...;(
Zuppa ma felice, mi sono consolata facendo colazione da Sarabeth, ammirando dalla vetrina la piacevole vista di Central Park, i cavalli e le carrozze. La giornata si è svolta visitando il Metropolitan Museum. In questi mesi propongono una mostra dedicata a Andy Warhol (http://www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/listings/2012/regarding-warhol) e agli artisti che sono stati inevitabilmente ispirati dalla sua arte.
Se siete amanti delle antiche porcellane cinesi potete rifarvi gli occhi, ne sono esposte di bellissime; lasciano a bocca aperta anche le esposizioni permanenti, io le ho viste qualche anno fa.
E finita la pioggia? Un giro per la Madison, tra negozi monomarca e vetrine spettacolari come quella di Barneys (http://www.barneys.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-BNY-Site/default/Home-Show) dedicata a Louboutin...

Bell-bottomed pants and Margiela beige boots... Once I came out of the hotel it started raining and my jeans absorbed water...;(
Soaked but happy, I took comfort at Sarabeth's for breakfast, admiring the pleasant view of Central Park, horses and coaches from the window. The day went on visiting Metropolitan Museum and the exhibition dedicated to Andy Warhol and the artists who unavoidably had been inspired by his art

If you are a lover of ancient Chinese porcelains you can see beautiful ones to be left open-mouthed; permanent expositions are great, I saw them some years ago.
And once rain stopped? A walk through Madison Street, among monobrand stores and spectacular shop windows like Barneys' (http://www.barneys.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-BNY-Site/default/Home-Show) dedicated to Louboutin...

Il termometro segna 13°C, fa freddo ma almeno il cielo è sereno e ha smesso di piovere...;)

Oggi il programma della giornata prevede una sostanziosa colazione in University Place e poi una bella camminata fino al Meatpacking District (posso assicurare che la distanza è notevole).
Mi sono vestita di blu e nero, la sciarpa di Rika da il tocco giusto al mio outfit semplice e sportivo.
Consiglio di visitare Jeffrey (http://jeffreynewyork.com/), è uno store bellissimo dove si possono trovare i pezzi più cool di stagione e i brand più interessanti. A pochi passi da lì lo Standard Grill dello Standard Hotel è ottimo per fare un pranzo a base di lobster roll e patatine fritte; la location attira inevitabilmente l'attenzione.
Cammina, cammina, alla fine non c'è niente di più bello che perdersi nel quartiere già tutto addobbato per l'attesissima festa di Halloween...

The thermometer reads 13°C, it's cold but fortunately sky is clear and it has stopped raining...;)
The program for today consists in a rich breakfast in University Place and a long walk to Meatpacking District (I can assure the distance is considerable).
I dressed in black and blue, my Rika scarf gives the right touch to my simple and sporty outfit.
I suggest you to visit Jeffrey (http://jeffreynewyork.com/), it's a beautiful store where you can find the most exciting pieces that fashion has to offer each season and the most interesting international brands. Near the shop, the Standard Grill at Standard Hotel is excellent to have lunch eating lobster roll and homemade fries; unavoidably the location attracts the attention.
At the end there's nothing better than getting lost in the district already decorated for Halloween...
